Scope
|
In Himalayan countries, hazard from glacial lake outburst floods (GLOFs) is an urgent environmental and economical issue. At present a firm link between global warming and GLOF events is not yet established. We will hold this session in order to improve our knowledge on GLOFs including detailed glaciological and hydrological processes and provide a comprehensive understanding of GLOFs' mechanisms.
