Scope The Great East Japan Earthquake caused the severe accident in TEPCO Fukushima-daiichi nuclear power plant, leading to emission of a large amount of radioactive pollutants to the environment. The radioactive pollutants have been transported and diffused by atmospheric and ocean current to make a disaster for inhabitants in/around Fukushima as well as damage on agriculture, fishery, and other industries. Just after this accident, various efforts have been carried out to understand transport and diffusion processes in the atmosphere and ocean, and shifting processes of radioactive pollutants among soil, vegetation, river and underground water by many earth science researchers. In this session, results of these research activities will be presented and be discussed. Through interdisciplinary discussion, we will try to form the comprehensive view of this accident influence. The actions on this disaster by earth scientists will be also discussed.
