Scope Magnetostratigraphy and microfossil stratigraphy have widely been used for stratigraphic dating. For dating, we use time-series data of geomagnetic field or microfossils as a time scale, or correlate magnetic or biological proxies of paleoclimate with standard marine oxygen isotope stratigraphy or other paleoclimate stratigrapy data. Toward high-precision dating, the session raises issues of the latest geomagnetic field direction & intensity and microfossil time-series data, geomagnetic events, and paleoclimate proxies with rock magnetic parameters and biological productions. It welcomes proposals of new application methods to other fields, comparison with other methods including OSL dating, radiometric dating and so on, and applications to paleoceanography, paleoclimatology, paleoanthropology, and archeology.
