Scope Contemporary life on Earth has foundations in the dynamic evolution of phototrophic processes that convert solar radiation into biochemical energy. The mechanisms of the phototrophy, established back in the Archean, has drifted between various lineages and thereby diversified the whole spectrum of life on Earth. The solar life, which consists of networks extended from microbial photosynthetic systems, have driven the evolution of biogeochemical cycles and established the modern surface systems of our planet. A traditional distinction of autophototrophic and heterotrophic organisms has been challenged by a new scope that majority of aquatic microbes are physiologically associated with and directly depend in certain relationships on their sustaining metabolisms. Thus, the oral session of this year focuses on "microbial interactions associated with phototrophy", to which we invite talks on microbe-microbe metabolic interactions such as (photosynthetic) symbioses, formation of consortia, kleptochloroplastism, and taxa-selective feeding. Topics of interest for the poster session are not limited to the theme above but include any contributions on understanding of evolutionary dynamics in uses of the solar energy among lives.
