Scope The fifth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is published from 2013 to 2014, and we are getting into the next phase of the climate change studies. The discussion for the next term has already started, and that includes the stronger coordination of the Climate Model, Impact, Adaptation, and Vulnerability and Integrated Assessment Modeling communities. Such movement is not surprising as global warming is inherently an issue we should tackle comprehensively. In Japan, we have organized occasions for information exchange between different communities, and recently the frequency and the density of such opportunities are increasing. The goal of this session is to accelerate such movement, as well as to expose the problems at this stage. In particular, with a purpose to reduce the uncertainty in the future projection, the session places importance on mutual understanding of the tools (e.g., models) of each community, and on discussing the significance and the specific course of the inter-community coordination. We welcome presentations including: plain descriptions of models used by each community, case studies of interdisciplinary climate change research, or those raising questions on inter-community liaison. We expect the positive participation by those who are interested in overview of the climate change studies, or interested in jumping into the field of climate change studies.
