Luminescence and ESR for dating and earth science
Scope
Optically stimulated luminescence (OSL), Thermoluminescence (TL), Cathodoluminescence (CL) , and Electron spin resonance (ESR) are methods in solid state physics to observe lattice defects in minerals. These methods have been found useful in Quaternary dating as well as in wide variety of fields in earth and planetary science by providing information which is not possilbe by any other measurements. The present session focuses on the achievements and possible future developments of these methods especially by observing Japanese samples.
